Competition FAQ
-What is the “Technology
Generation” Competition?

It is a
competition inaugurated by Sheikh Salman al-Oadah on his famous T.V.
program “Awwal Ithnayn” (First Monday).
-What is the
objective of this competition?
There are several
objectives:
1. To encourage a
competitive spirit among young Muslim men and women who are engaging
in beneficial fields of intellectual endeavor.
2. To participate
in forming a technology-oriented environment that can serve as a
starting point for the technological development of the Muslim
world.
3. To showcase our
most inventive men and women so they can be an inspiration for
others.
4. To restore the hopes of the Muslim
people to be the leaders of civilization that they used to be.
5. To help bring
our most inventive minds together with relevant corporations and
economic institutions.
-What are the
fields that will be considered for the candidate inventions?
All fields of specialization
are welcome except computer programs, since they do cannot receive a
patent.
-What are the
necessary conditions for an invention?
The invention should be a
new idea or an original development of a previous one.
-Is
there an age limit for participations?
The competition
will be divided into two categories:
-15 years of age
and less.
- Over 15 years of
age.
The competition
is open to both men and women.

-What prizes
will be awarded to the talented young inventors?
1. The IslamToday
Medal of Technological Innovation
1. Scholarships
and educational excursions to leading universities for many fields
of study.
2. Other prizes of
monetary value.
-How will the winning
invention be chosen?
The Committee will
select the winners from among the qualifying entries in compliance
with the rules and regulations of the competition.
The committee’s
decision will be final.
-When will the
winners be declared?
The winners will
be declared within two months from the final date of receiving the
entries.
Note:
Efforts will be made to issue a patent document for each winner. The
inventions that are not exhibited will be handled in a totally
confidential manner by the project’s Scientific Committee. |
